Meals

We believe that establishing good eating habits is crucial for a long-term healthy life. It’s important for children to develop a positive relationship with food, and we facilitate this by providing a relaxed atmosphere where healthy, freshly cooked meals are prepared by our full-time Chef. Our Chef is skilled in catering to special dietary requirements and allergies, ensuring that every child receives a nutritious, well-balanced diet rich in fresh fruit and vegetables.

We aim to make mealtimes a happy, social experience where children can interact with their peers and practitioners in a safe and comfortable environment. To promote social interaction and foster communication and language development, the children and practitioners sit together at mealtimes in small groups. This setting not only provides a secure environment for children to explore new and familiar foods but also helps build a positive relationship with food that will support them throughout their lifetime.

For younger babies, we provide high chairs and ensure practitioners are close by to support their first experiences with food. We work closely with parents/carers to understand each baby’s routine and eating habits, ensuring continuity of care by supporting “Baby Led Weaning.”

Here is an example of our typical menu:

Breakfast

  • A selection of cereals, porridge and toast.

Morning snack

  • Fresh fruit and cheese.

Cheese is provided after fresh fruit to help neutralise the acid and protect the children’s teeth, thus promoting good oral hygiene.

All snacks are served with water or milk.

Lunch

  • Butternut squash and mushroom pie with mash potato and fresh vegetables.
  • Sweet potato curry with rice and fresh vegetables.
  • Babotie, with rice and fresh vegetables.
  • Ratatouille and couscous.
  • Thai fish curry with rice and fresh vegetables.
  • Spaghetti bolognese and fresh vegetables.
  • Roast Chicken, potatoes and fresh vegetables.

Afternoon Snack

  • Rice cakes.
  • Biscuits.
  • Crackers and cheese.

All snacks are served with water or milk.

Tea

  • Pesto pasta with crudites.
  • Jacket potato with cheese and tuna, served with greek salad.
  • Lentil dhal with rice and fresh vegetables.
  • Red pepper and tomato pasta with corn on the cob.
  • Hot, smoked salmon pasta with fresh vegetables.
  • Savoury cheese pudding with fresh vegetables.

Snack

  • At snack time, we offer a selection of fresh fruit, crudites, biscuits, cheese, and raisins, accompanied by water or milk.
