Learning environment

We aim to provide a nurturing environment where all children can thrive by meeting their individual needs and promoting secure attachments. We pride ourselves on creating a stimulating environment that offers children a way to express themselves and develop their learning through experiences, while using scaffolding to build on the knowledge they have already acquired through play.

Partnership with parents is paramount to ensuring we achieve the best outcomes for all children. We operate an ‘Open Door Policy,’ encouraging parents/carers to visit the nursery at any time, thus building positive partnerships between home and nursery. Home visits can also be arranged upon request.

The first two years of a child’s life play a crucial part in their learning and development journey. We strive to provide our children with as many experiences as possible through their environment. We furnish resources and materials to ensure the children can develop and build upon their development throughout our indoor and outdoor environments. In addition to our outdoor provisions within the setting, we often take the children to experience different areas within the local community to explore the awe and wonder of the world. This provides the children with opportunities to develop within the 7 areas of learning. We support the children’s learning goals through the use of the Three I’s:

  • Intent
  • Implementation
  • Impact

Our learning initiatives are also influenced by the “Birth to 5 Matters” guidance.

We encourage all practitioners to be reflective within their practice to ensure we can effectively use resources and materials to encourage the children’s curiosity and cultivate their imagination.

LEARNING

CHARACTERISTICS OF EFFECTIVE LEARNING.

The EYFS identifies three interchangeable characteristics to help children learn:

  1. Playing and Exploring – Engagement: Finding joy in playing with what they know and showing eagerness to explore new experiences.

  2. Active Learning – Motivation: Being deeply involved, persistently trying, and enjoying the achievement of their goals.

  3. Creating and Thinking Critically: Generating their own ideas, making choices, and deciding on approaches to accomplish tasks.
